What are the key questions park managers and design professionals must ask when addressing the possible effects of climate change at historic sites. How can the design and planning community best influence the national discussion about climate change and cultural resources?
Preliminary Design Principles
Six design principles emerged from the rich and varied discussion that took place last year during Designing The Parks Part II at Cavallo Point. They are:
Park planning and design must demonstrate:
• Reverence for place;
• Engagement of all people;
• Expansion beyond traditional boundaries;
• Sustainability;
• Informed decision-making;
• An integrated research, planning, design, and review process.
